Bach's Mass in B Minor BVW 232 at the Sablé-sur-Sarthe Festival.
Conducted by its founder and conductor Itay Jedlin, the choir of the Concert Etranger begins this performance with gorgeous chords which resonate round the Saint-Louis Church of the Prytanée National Militaire de La Flèche. Since 2006, the Concert Etranger has brought together many musicians from diverse backgrounds to create a group with true flexibility and prowess. The full cast did not perform here, however. As Itay Jedlin chose the 1729 score to perform, only 10 singers and 21 musicians of the Foreign Concert are required for this work. The Mass is divided into four parts, with 12 pieces in the Missa (Kyrie and Gloria) section, 9 pieces for the Creed section and 6 pieces in the Missa Tota. With brilliance, elegance and refinement, the Concert Etranger and Itay Jedlin unite as one to finish this mammoth Mass.
