Carte blanche to the Kronberg Academy

This concert given on the 27th of April in the Auditorium of the Musée du Louvre brings together some of the most impressive young performers of the day. The piece selection is immensely challenging for the most weathered players, so the bright futures of these young performers can be seen on stage.

First, we hear Marc Bouchkov on violin, playing Johannes Brahms’ Scherzo for Violin and Piano in C Minor. This work has strong and forceful melodies beside emotive passages, offering the soloist the chance to show off a wide range of skills. Next we hear Rondo Brilliant for violin and piano in B minor by Franz Schubert with Fumika Mohri on violin. A slower piece follows: Poem op 25 by Ernest Chausson, played by Walter Delahunt. The penultimate work is Eugène Ysaye’s Sonata No. 5 in G Major "Mathieu Crickboom”, which is a monstrous piece requiring utmost technical skill of the soloist. Finally, we hear Pablo de Sarasate’s Navarra op. 33, a work which would not be out of place in a Victorian ballroom.
