25:15Hersant: Cantique des trois enfants dans la fournaise (Commissioned by the Radio France Children's Choir/CMBV)
The Radio France Children's Choir, conducted by Sofi Jeannin, and the Centre de Musique Baroque de Versailles, conducted by Olivier Schneebeli, perform works by Marc-Antoine Charpentier and Philippe Hersant. Concert recorded live on 21 February at the Radio France Auditorium.
To illustrate the splendour of musical creation at the royal court under the reign of Louis XIV, two great French children's choirs, conducted by their musical directors, perform a programme initially created by both ensembles together in 2015.
Marc-Antoine Charpentier Messe à quatre chœurs
Philippe Hersant Cantique des trois enfants dans la fournaise
Bringing together more than sixty singers and twenty instrumentalists, the two ensembles perform in Radio France's Grand Auditorium one of Marc-Antoine Charpentier's masterpieces, the Messe à quatre chœurs, in a spatialised arrangement of choirs, a "unique performance" in France of polychoral sacred work in the Roman tradition. Philippe Hersant's Cantique des trois enfants dans la fournaise, according to the Book of Daniel, completes the programme, using the same ensemble size and spatialisation. Performed once more four years after its premiere, this programme will also be the subject of a recording, to be published by Radio France.
