Cyrille Dubois

French tenor

Lyrical Revelation at the Victoires de la Musique Classique 2015, Cyrille Dubois especially likes the French melody and gives pride to that genre with the Duo Contraste, founded with pianist Tristan Raës.

Cyrille Dubois discovered singing at the Maîtrise de Caen directed by Robert Weddle. Within this formation, he approached a wide repertoire. After a time at the Conservatoire of Rennes, he carried on his education at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris first in the class of Alain Buet, then with Anne Le Bozec and Jeff Cohen, with whom he gives recitals. That was during that time he discovered the repertoires of the lied and melody.

After his studies, he joined the Atelier Lyrique de l’Opéra de Paris and got the opportunity to improve and to sing his first big parts. His interpretations include The Tales of Hoffman at the Scala of Milan and at the Opéra de Paris, The Barber of Seville of Rossini at the Théâtre des Champs Élysées or Gérald in Lakmé of Léo Delibes at the Opéra Théâtre de Saint-Etienne. This part offered him the reward of "2014 lyrical revelation" by the union of music critics. Besides his training at the Atelier Lyrique, he gives performances of a wide repertoire and perfected his technique and his interpretation with Jeannine Reiss, Ann Muray and Nathalie during several master classes.

With pianist Tristan Raës, he founded the Duo Contraste, putting the lights on led and melody. Both of them benefited from te advice of Helmut Deutsch, Anne Grapotte, François Le Roux: in 2010, then won the Concours de Lied et Mélodie Nadia et Lili Boulanger and in 2013, they were the triple winners at the Concours de Musique de chambre de Lyon (including first prize and prize of the public). The Duo Contraste multiplies the concerts revolving around the repertoire of the French melody on stages as prestigious as the Palazetto Bru-Zane in Venice, the Opéra de Paris, the museum Claude Debussy and the Whigmore Hall in London.
