Daniil Trifonov is Russian pianist who has performed throughout the world from a very young age. He was the laureate of many prestigious competitions, making a spectacular ascent in the world of classical music with many renowned orchestras.
Trifonov began studying the piano at age five, and when he was 9, he joined Moscow’s famous Gnessin School of Music, studying under Tatiana Zelikman, who was also the teacher of Alexei Volodin and Alexander Kobrin.
From 2006 to 2009, Daniil studied composition, which led him to write a few works for piano - but also for chamber music ensembles and orchestras. He quickly became the laureate of different competitions, where his speed and his incredible technique were awarded.
In 2009, he became a piano student at the Cleveland Institute of Music, studying under Sergei Babayan.
Trifonov had emerged as one of the most brilliant young talent of his generation of pianists. The juries of the competitions he participated in have included important figures such as Nelson Freire, Yefim Bronfman, Emanuel Ax. In particular, pianist Martha Argerich noted his talent during the Tchaikovsky competition, where he was awarded the First Prize and Gold Medal in 2011 by Valery Gergiev, who also praised his exceptional talent.
After all these competitions, Daniil performed all over the world with ensembles such as the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and the orchestra of the Théâtre Mariinsky. He made triumphant debuts under the direction of Vladimir Fedoseyev, Sir Neville Marriner or even Valery Gergiev. He also gave piano recitals at the Salle Pleyel, La Fenice, at Carnegie Hall and other prestigious halls throughout the world.
